One of the least-known cultural jewels in London, Charlton House is a 400 year old Jacobean mansion. I've long been a fan and was honoured to polish the text for their new website. Do visit this wonderful country house now in the middle of town; it's marvellous.

Four hundred year-old Charlton House in South East London has an intriguing history - and, despite at first glance, looking as though all is out in the open, still harbours many secrets. A packed Around Town Online this month with the gorgeous Magic Lantern Festival at Chiswick, The Magic Flute at the ENO, a Shakespeare exhibition at Somerset House, Orchids at Kew, Guys & Dolls at the Savoy theatre, Fashion Rules, Restyled at Kensington Palace and Vogue 100 at the National Portrait Gallery. Phew!

The 'Roman' Bath in a tiny alley just off the Strand is relatively well known ut it has a strange and surprising history much more interesting than its supposed origins. I gained access to this seldom-opened oddity and have written about it for Londonist.
