Tomorrow sees the opening, nearly 70 years after the NT acquired it, of Rainham Hall in Essex, which I cover in Londonist today. A brilliant addition to the cultural map of East London, which frankly needs it. Too many beautiful things have been lost, we need to cherish every survivor.

One of the oddest places I have ever been, an urban arable farm 100 feet under the streets of Clapham in an abandoned WWII deep level bomb shelter, covered today for Londonist.

I had never even heard of the Battle of Britain bunker but it is as exciting as it sounds - a secret bunker 45ft underground, from which WWII's most famous missions were directed. Read all about it in Londonist from today.

Incredibly, there is a warren of tunnels UNDER the secret tunnels in the Cabinet War Rooms. I was lucky enough to explore them with the museum's director for Londonist.
